GIF to Video
Convert a GIF into an MP4. The same animation, usually somewhere between ten and thirty times smaller, in a format every platform actually wants.
How it works
Choose a file, keep the defaults or adjust the options, then click the main button. The finished file downloads automatically when it is ready.
- 1
Choose your file
Upload the video, audio or GIF from your device. Its name and preview appear immediately so you can confirm the selection.
- 2
Adjust if you need to
The defaults are ready to use. Change any visible format, quality or size options only when you want a different result.
- 3
Click the action button
Click Convert, Compress, Normalise or Make GIF. The finished file downloads automatically when it is ready.
What you get
Simple tools, clear results, no unnecessary steps
Far smaller, same animation
MP4 stores the differences between frames instead of whole frames, which is exactly what a looping animation is full of. A ten-megabyte GIF routinely comes back well under one megabyte.
Handles odd GIF dimensions
Some GIFs use unusual dimensions that other converters reject. This tool adjusts them automatically so you still get a playable MP4.
A finished, ready-to-use file
Download the complete converted file in the format you chose, with no preview-only result or watermark.
Nothing to install
Open the tool on a phone or computer and get started. No app or extension is required.
Free to use
Conversion is free with a signed-in Spira account. There is no per-file charge and no length ceiling hidden behind a paywall.
Why the platforms convert your GIF anyway
Many social and messaging platforms already display GIFs as silent looping videos. Converting first gives you a much smaller file, faster uploads and more control over the final quality.
What you lose, and what you don't
MP4 usually keeps the animation looking the same while reducing the file size dramatically. Keep the original GIF for email or places that only accept images; choose MP4 for social posts, chat apps and websites where faster loading matters.
FAQ
Will the video still loop?
Most social and chat platforms automatically loop short silent videos. On a website, looping depends on the video player's settings.
Does the converted file have sound?
No. A GIF has no audio to carry over, so the MP4 comes out with no audio track at all. That is what makes platforms treat it as a GIF-style autoplaying clip rather than a video that needs a tap to unmute.
Is there quality loss?
The result may be slightly softer around sharp text or screen recordings, but most animations look the same or better while using far less space.
Why did my GIF fail to convert somewhere else?
Some GIFs have unusual dimensions that video formats do not accept. This tool corrects the size automatically instead of failing the conversion.
The conversion is the small end of it
Spira AI takes a script or a link and produces a finished short with voiceover, visuals and captions, then publishes it on a schedule. These tools are the bits you reach for along the way.
